I just think he was a strange signing for how much we invested in him, I don't think he is a bad player and as a wide forward he is pretty decent but I am not sure where he really fits into our style of play especially when we signed him to justify the outlay.
I guess Billic is playing him at present out of necessity but it does emphasise how ill suited he is to the lone striker role and it makes you wonder what he was signed for and who thought it was a worthwhile investment at that price?

If he gets the opportunity, he can bang them in, but it all has to revolve around him and it needs to be on a platter because he doesn't create space on his own. He must have hit the ball 5-6 times straight into the man in front of him.
My issue with him is his inability to relieve pressure. He cannot play with his back to goal and he doesn't use his pace to stretch the defence or link up with the midfield which is why we are playing at the back so frequently. Even if he does get on the ball, he loses possession far too easily . Eventually the opposing defence simply cheats forward and we are pinned in our own half.
By the last ten minutes, Southampton were not even bothering to mark him, and they did not park the bus until Emenike came on and started creating space.
